I worked with Henry as his assistant in his Royal Rangers class at Raleigh First Assembly for a few years before we relocated to Georgia. I was always amazed at how he never got flustered in a class full of young boys around five years of age. If I had to choose one word to describe Henry Black, it would be "humble". To know Henry, is to love Henry.

I have only known Henry for a short time. He was a wonderful man with a sharp sense of humor and dry wit. I so much enjoyed talking to him. My condolences to his loving wife and family.

Mr. Black was such a wonderful neighbor, and treated everyone around him with dignity and respect. I appreciate his quiet humor, his vast intelligence and his devotion to making our little street the friendliest street in Raleigh. My sincerest condolences to the entire family. I am so very sad that we've lost such a great man.
