Condolence & Memory Journal

I am Byron Goynes from Las Vegas, Nevada. Dixon and our paths crossed in 1978 at Prairie View A&M University of Texas. Me from the west coast and them from the east coast. I knew Dixon as one of the Boys from Boston. Gary, Ron Walker, and Ernest. Those friendships are still vibrant today! I traveled to Boston November 2017 and had the opportunity to speak with Gary by phone. That infectious laugh was there and on point. I also met with and shared memories with Ron Walker.

We spoke about life and how blessed we were to know each other and the memories we shared after graduating college and just being good citizens and giving back. Meeting at Prairie View Homecomings' for the past 30 years and acting like we were still in charge of the Yard!

I won't miss Dixon because his spirit will always be with me and yes I'll think about him everyday as I often reflect on the experiences we shared as young black boys being developed into young black men at a HBCU. We made it....all of us. As we often said ... Prairie View Produces Productive People!
